Gov. Ron DeSantis on Wednesday urged all Floridians to avoid unnecessary gatherings and travel after coming under increasing pressure from health professionals and political critics.
DeSantis said he was following guidance from the White House urging all Americans to stay home for at least another month to limit the spread of the coronavirus.
“At this point, I think even though there’s a lot of places in Florida that have a very low infection rate, it makes sense to make this move now," DeSantis told reporters today.
The policy will take effect Thursday. Essential services will be exempt.
