President Donald Trump is set to hold a rally on the same day as former special counsel Robert Mueller's highly anticipated testimony before Congress.
The Trump campaign lists a rally set for the evening of July 17 in Greenville, N.C., — the same day Mueller is scheduled to go before the House Judiciary and House Intelligence Committees to discuss his investigation into the president's election.
The Associated Press first reported the correlating dates.
Mueller had expressed reluctance about testifying before Congress, arguing his findings are detailed in his report. But Democratic Reps. Adam Schiff and Jerry Nadler announced last week that Mueller would appear before the committees.
Trump has decried House Democrats' efforts to speak with Mueller, dismissing his investigation as a partisan witch hunt that failed to bring up anything conclusive. Though Mueller did not charge the president with any crimes — doing so is against Justice Department policy — the special counsel pointedly did not absolve the president of obstruction of justice, saying during a news conference in May: "If we had had confidence that the president clearly did not commit a crime, we would have said so."
Trump formally relaunched his reelection campaign last month in Florida, facing a brimming field of Democratic hopefuls.
