Sen. Amy Klobuchar is heading back to Iowa next week to roll out an agriculture and rural communities policy, according to a schedule shared with POLITICO.
The Minnesota senator and Democratic presidential candidate will announce a proposal focused on family farms, followed by a four-day, 20-county tour through the first caucus state.
The trip, scheduled from Wednesday to Saturday, culminates at the Iowa State Fair.Klobuchar also announced on Friday that she has met the qualifications for the September debate stage, crossing the donation threshold of 130,000 individual contributions. She had already received at least 2 percent in four polls, the second requirement to appear on the third debate stage in Houston.
“Amy’s debate performances have shown exactly why she is the strongest candidate to take on Donald Trump and she will continue to hold him accountable for his divisiveness and empty promises," Justin Buoen, Klobuchar's campaign manager, said in a statement. "As she takes the stage again this fall, voters will hear about her optimistic agenda and plans to make progress on the challenges and opportunities we face as a nation.”
Klobuchar is the eighth Democratic presidential candidate to reach the third debate stage. The deadline for hitting the debate criteria is Aug. 28.
