House Intelligence Chairman Adam Schiff said the clock is ticking for Robert Mueller to publicly testify about his investigation into Russian meddling during the 2016 election.
“Time is running out,” Schiff said Tuesday on CNN’s “New Day.” “With someone like Bob Mueller, making an appeal to his patriotism and a sense of duty is the right way to go.
”Schiff added that August is too late for such a public appearance and that if an agreement isn’t reached, “we’ll have to use a subpoena.”
The comments come after Mueller said last month that he wrapped up his duties as special counsel and that he did not plan on testifying before Congress. House Judiciary Chairman Jerry Nadler also said he would issue a subpoena for Mueller's testimony, though the committee is still negotiating with the former special counsel and the timeline for any subpoena remains unclear.
